Why should you become a believer? Most people join for the free stuff. Periodically the gods will bless you with an item, if you're missing a tool the god will bless you with one, if you're starving to death the gods can bless you with food. When you're blessed with an item you will receive a message saying something like "Here my child. Take this with my blessings." and the item will pop out from nowhere.
So you're ready to become a follower? To join one of the 7 religions we have at the moment you need to either find or build an altar. Building the altar is very simple and you can get all the equipment needed to make one using /kit starter. You need only three items, one stonebrick block, a single torch and one sign. Once you have these items you'll need to decide what religion you will follow. Using the /gods list command you will find all the gods that you're able to follow, along with their power and number of followers.
The list of gods will look like the following.

When you've decided on your god you need to build the altar by placing a torch on a stonebrick block as shown above. You'll then need to place the sign on and type the name of your god. Like below. Here I have chosen to become a believer in the God Athena. You do not need to include "Altar of" just type the name of your desired god.

Shown above is the completed altar, by right clicking the sign I have received a blessing, and have been given a cookie. Yum. You can pray to your god about once every half an hour, if you have not waited long enough to pray, you will receive a message saying, "You cannot pray at the altar so soon! Gather your strength and try again later."
Using the command /gods help you can see all the available commands. The commands are shown below.

The command /gods gives the name of the plugin creator, DogOnFire, and the amount of gods and believers currently following a god.
The command /gods list gives a list of the gods
Use /gods info <Gods name> to show all information on the specific god
You can use /gods check <player name> to be given the name of the god the player is following
Finally, to leave your religion use /gods leave
When using /gods info <gods name> you will find a list looking similar to this, this is the info on Athena.

At times your god will ask you to go in search to kill the unholy creature, in this case it is a sheep. Sometimes you will be asked to build altars for your god, we have already learnt how to do this above. Eating the unholy food will kill you VERY QUICKLY be careful.
Please post if you're having problems or need some more clear instructions.
