This person emailed me one day, asking If I was interested in a minecraft magazine....

This person emailed me one day, asking If I was interested in a minecraft magazine, obviously I considered the fact that this person was crazy, however I followed up with him as I usually do. (thats a hint, if you really want something, email me)  Now everyone knows I spend a lot of time around a lot of little kids, and we get a lot of crazy offers, but this seemed..awesome.  Also they had done their homework.  So I pledged my support!  Id also like to thank Blugonz for writing an article for the magazine, one of the only PLAYERS of any server to do so.
You'll also find an article by yours truly, it became the words I've always wanted to write down, and it feels great knowing people will finally read it.  Please find it in your heart to purchase a physical copyas well, I REALLY WANT ONE, IVE ORDERED LIKE 4, IF THEY SELL ENOUGH THEY PRINT IT!

Thanks!

Looks good for a start, I'll buy one sooner or later. Would be cool if player builds had more of space dedicated to them, but that's just me. I have several critques for the magaziners so I'll go send them in the proper direction.
The player builds should be 3-4 pages. We had to squeeze it down due to (1) lack of submissions (was a little hard for the first issue given we tried to remain under the radar) and (2) potential printing costs. We really want to try to send this to print, so we've tried to keep the potential costs as low as possible.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions, though. There is a lot that can be improved. :D
Could always create an online only section to help reduce printing costs. Just put a link on the final page 'see more at minecraftquartly.com'

Just throwing some ideas off:

Minecraft-themed MadLibs, sort of a mini-contest thing
Crossword Puzzles, Riddles, a 'games' section to make people come back to the magazine.
maybe a corny minecraft joke or two on the page. random facts about minecraft
Could show off some minecraft fan art; visual, audio, movies/videos, stories.

maybe you could host some opinion polls on the webiste 'what is your favorite block' 'what is your favorite mob' 'Nether World vs Overworld' 'what is the one reason that makes you join a server' 'how often do you change your skin' 'when did you start playing minecraft'. a survival vs pvp vs creative poll, ideas are limitless

Ah, a chance for 'free' advertisement (or just offer something cool) other than the internet world.. make a contest of having minecrafters make a 8 in by 11 in poster and taking a picture of the advertisement in a public location (they could include there self in the picture) (college dorm message boards, a community message board, just make sure to remind people to get permission from whoever maintains the message board, i'm sure you don't want complaints) etc.. most creative location, best design/illustration, could think of categories.. Maybe print out some business cards to hand out to people if you have the chance (like at minecraft events)

maybe give a business card/thank you card combo when you sell a magazine (i have a feeling this may or may not be possible depending on the services provided by your print provider)

maybe a corny minecraft joke or two on the page.

^minecraft mini comics. yes please.
Great suggestions, and actually many that are on our to-do list!

We had a comic, but due to circumstances, we were unable to publish the comic. Expect some Minecraft-themed games and polls in forthcoming issues. We were unable to implement a lot of our ideas simply because this entire idea was conceived only 5-6 weeks ago. It's been a hectic and fun ride. :)

Check the site for upcoming contest information (such as submissions for the cover page).

Thank you, though. I've already relayed all of this to the staff, and it has been duly noted. :)
as long as the mini comics are well done on a technical aspect.. none of whatever that one server had lol, you (CusterGrant) might need to be more lenient with quality until you get the consistent pump of people wanting to be in the magazine.
Although I saw a couple things I could critique as well, I just want to say GREAT job putting this all together :D
I'm sure it was a crazy time putting it all together and a lot of hard work, I thought for a first issue it came out really nice :)
read your article!! loved it
So much Muttsworld in there, I loved Mumblerit's article.... His dad called him an idiot! But hey, He would've quit the job anyways, and if he didn't have the server he would be in a cardboard box right now.
I love the thing and mumble's story.
Its awesome. I hope to see more user submitted screenshots.

I want to buy a hard copy
Minestatus is also offering a double vote thing, check it out here
oh good so get ready for your numbers to go up mum. of course it might take a little global spamming to get the word out about this vote promotion but its worth it eh? i dont log on much anymore so my spamming isnt much maybe u should implement it into the server announcements during the promotion?
good stuff ;)
I'm in. I want that hard-copy.
It's MineCraft history in the making.
Actually, should have ordered 2. One to keep, one to read.

Tip: Raffle off a copy signed by Notch and Jeb.
With proceeds to go to a favored charity. Raise awareness in all directions.
Mumblin, mumble passed that idea onto me. It's a great one, too! In fact, I've already contacted Notch, Jeb, and Carl about it, and hopefully they come on board! If we can hit the quota to pay for the prints, proceeds from orders afterwards will be given to the Child's Play charity anyway. Thanks for that wonderful suggestion!
Nice interview, come on people, feed the mumblegod!
wow yes berk great idea. this is so exciting. everyone involved must feel so sexy!
Great article by Mumble, enlightening, I also noticed Toboein's image in there on one page, nice job guys. Thinking I might buy a hard copy too, I'm kind of a magazine addict.
